The Ringohan fanclub announced that due to much popular interest and kind remarks (good reviews) in last year's Ringohan 'ADULTS ONLY' special fanclub-only live, they are going to release it on DVD. It is going to have 19 tracks and be released the same day as Shiina's new album, February 21st, 2007. The price will be 4100 yen. This was apparently one of those kidney-seller concerts - so the fact that it is being released two years later must say something about how good it really is! I really look forward to this DVD, as I have heard nothing but rave reviews from the lucky fans who were able to attend.
Songs that MAY be included: Shiina Ringo Solo: Koufukuron Fly Me To The Moon Keshou Naoshi Ringo no Uta Omatsuri Sawagi Haiiro no Hitomi Owakare no Samba Get It Up For Love Kabukicho no Joou Stem Kareha La Salle de Bain Sid to Hakumuchuu Meisai In the Summer Time

The upcoming movie, Sakuran, features Anna Tsuchiya as a young girl in the Yoshiwara district of Edo-era Japan. Shiina Ringo is the Music Director. In the trailer, a new rendition of Tokyo Jihen's 'Yume no Ato' is featured.
As well, there will be a new single + album coming out. Her new single will feature her brother, Shiina Junpei, in it as well. Hopefully there will be another single besides the one. Will Tokyo Jihen be involved? Time will only tell.
Single: [2007.01.17] Kono Yo no Kagiri [The Limits of this World] Album: [2007.02.21] Untitled
Yet again, Shiina Ringo proves how much of an entertainer she can be. She excells at it. She excells and rocks at it. Her band, isn't just "her band" any more. They are Tokyo Jihen. This isn't Shiina Ringo. It's something much more than that. A bunch of entities working as one to produce amazing music - both visually and orchestrally. Wondered why everyone dubbed Tokyo Jihen as a "live band"? Prepare to find out.
Blackout features a mind blowing rendition of the album version. Clips suiting the "adult" theme blend into the song, as each and every single one of Shiina's body actions indicate what the song does to her, and what she wants it to do to you.
Shoujo Robot rallies the band, and shows how each part completes the whole. Watch Shiina do the robot at the end. Another taste of what the DVD - "Just Can't Help It." will be like.
YouTube clips will be added to those who provide them. There are also high quality AVI versions on JpopSuki. Remember to register your e-mail addresses on the right hand panel to recieve SR/TJ blog updates by e-mail. Do it now.
Tokyo Jihen's PV for 'Mirrorball' aired today on MTVJapan as a promo for their upcoming live DVD - 'Just can't help it.' The PV is basically just a recording of their concert footage - but, complete with visual gimmicks! Oh how we love those. The additions include random stobe light filters, color distortion, and Shiina in a disco ball - an effect used all the way back in 1960.
Mirrorball is a mellow, fun song, that will probably remind you of those high school dances. If you first listening doesn't grab you, the second certainly will. However, this song isn't really like the usual Tokyo Jihen songs, due to the fact that it was a cover of Ukigumo's old band, the Petrols. This is the perfect song to summer's end. I look forward to the upcoming live DVD.
This is Tokyo Jihen's third live DVD. The DVD was filmed on their DOMESTIC! Just Can't Help It. live tour at the May 25th, 2006 NHK Hall show. This concert was aimed at getting rid of all the monitors and amps to trying to make it seem more like a theatre stage. The DVD will contain an unreleased new track as well as a new cover song. New footage was shot exclusively for the DVD.
Sorry for the lack of updates, but, there hasn't been much Tokyo Jihen news, due to the DOMESTIC! Just Can't Help It venues. However, soon there will be tons of news about the band, as Tokyo Jihen enters the summer. Here are some quick news bits about Tokyo Jihen, and their current, and, not-so-current *cough*Hirama*cough* members.
Tokyo Jihen's huge nation-wide tour, the DOMESTIC! Just Can't Help It venues official ended on May.30, 2006 with their last concert at the Okinawa Convention Gekijo. This leaves much speculation that perhaps we will be seeing a new live DVD soon?
Now that Tokyo Jihen's huge tour is over, do you think they are going to take a much deserved break? Well, no. On July.2, 2006 Tokyo Jihen will be performing at the "SOCIETY OF THE CITIZENS vol.1" - a large outdoor concert at Hibiya Yagai Ongakudou! Other artists for the venue include the Zazen Boys and Soil & "Pimp" Sessions. This looks awesome. I really hope it is televised.
Shiina Ringo is mentioned on Kenichi Asai's new single which is released July.12, 2006. She is listed under "chorus". Hmmm, I wonder how big of a role she will play in the music?
Hirama Mikio is performing at a small venue as a guest. The venue is called CLUB Que, and it takes place July.26, 2006. You can get some more information on the venue here.
Well that's the news for the upcoming month of July. I wonder if Tokyo Jihen plans to take a break in the second half of 2006, or maybe decided to release more music? Time will only tell.
Responding to an earlier post of mine regarding Hirama Mikio's transgendered-like characteristics, I have just witnessed his PV for "if you can touch it". Two-thirds into the video, a 6 year old girl begins sucking a lolly-pop quite viciously. You draw your own conclusions upon why Hirama included it in.
Okay, this is just to warn all of you: A special "limited" (aka: bootlegged) 2-CD Adult album has been circulating around a few auction websites.
First off, it has the infamous "bootleg fake CD" sticker on the cover. Again, it also has "Shiina Ringo" on the cover of a TOKYO JIHEN CD - something you will never see. Shiina doesn't use HER name to promote a band she wishes to seperate herself from.
Moving onto the back of the album... Okay, besides the obvious, notice how it says "ABULTVER" instead of "Adult Ver." Besides the surplus of tracks (20 on each disc!), the bootlegger combined Shiina Ringo tracks within the album. Let's not forget the brutal kana, as Chinese characters are used instead of Japanese Kanji and the Hiragana and Katakana are horribly misplaced!
Does anyone else get a laugh out of DISC B, Track 15... "Kekekekireke" Remember, if ever in doubt with a legit CD, compare it offical images, and ask other fans for help.
These are the audio rips from Tokyo Jihen's DOMESTIC! Virgin LINE concert, ripped at 128kbps because the video source was at 128kbps. They sound really great - so remember to think of me when you go about your business while you have these songs cranked on your mp3 player.
